New Zealand is one of those places you’ll never stop talking about, once you’ve been there. The beautiful island country is blessed with amazing natural beauty, including spectacular scenery from mountain ranges, active volcanoes, majestic coastlines, lakes, fiords, glaciers and lush rainforests. It’s also one of the world’s least crowded countries, with a population of just 4 million, making it great for peaceful get-aways and trips.

New Zealand is a compact place, divided into two islands, and you can easily visit several holiday destinations across both islands in a short time.  Being from Arizona, I see mostly beautiful, brown desert year round.  It was a treat to see a lot of amazingly beautiful greenery.

Milford Sound

Milford Sound is situated in the northern-most end of the Fiordland National Park. It is famous for some of the most marvelous coastal scenery, majestic mountains, and deep blue waters in the world. If you like trekking you should also try the Milford track, which is New Zealand’s most visited hiking trail.

Bay of islands

This bay was named by Captain James Cook when he visited it in 1769. It consists of 144 islands, deserted bays and heavenly beaches. You’ll also be able to witness an abundance of marine life like whales, penguins, dolphins and the big marlin here. If you like adventure sports you should also try diving , sailing yachts, world cruises.

Tongariro National park

Unlike most national parks you may have seen, this one  has a rugged, volcanic landscape, both notorious, and famous, for its surprises and extremes. It’s blessed with a plethora of diverse flora and fauna. You’ll comes across amazing tranquil lakes, active volcanoes, untamed forest and desert-like plateaus. Hikers should also try the 19km long trek through its center, known as the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Rotorua

This is a place you should definitely visit while in New Zealand. It is famous as the country’s thermal wonderland since the1880’s. There a lot of thermal springs, mud pools and geysers are in the area, making it one of the country’s top outdoor tourist spots. Also, don’t forget to visit The Wai-O-Tapu nearby, famous for its hot springs and their colorful appearance. The smell of sulphur is an indication of thermal activity that is evident in the region.
